Kwality Restaurant | Image Resource: eventila.com

I can say travelling to New Delhi is my hobby because I love the city very much for many reasons. It is a hot spot for youngsters like me with many alluring places for entertainment, shopping, food, hangout places and much more. I jumped in joy when my friend invited for her birthday party at her house in Delhi. Currently we are roommates in the medical college hostel.

My accommodation was in her house as you can easily guess. We both left Kota to Delhi together. On our way we planned our itenary for the three day break. Food scored the first place in our list. After the birthday party we sneaked out to taste our favorite Chole Bhature and Paranthas on two different days as we had nothing important to do at home.

Our favorite haunt for Chole Bhature is Kwality Restaurant in Connaught Place. This Spicy Punjabi dish made of chickpea accompanied by the fried Bhature smells and tastes like heaven for me. It is one of the oldest of Restaurants in Delhi and even today serves the best Bhature. Sometimes we also go to Kamala Nagar Chache Di hatti which is very popular among students for their Bhature served with tangy pickles, fried potatoes and green chilly.

To mention our train booking, it was always an easy task for me and booked our sleeper class in Intercity Express.  Agra to Delhi Train schedule provided by the online portals is very helpful in locating the train convenient to us. The intercity express left Agra Contt at 06:00 and reached Delhi at 10:20. We reached Delhi in no time since it was a short duration journey of 4hrs and 20 minutes. Soon after we reached the station we took a cab to Chandni chowk for my friend’s birthday shopping.

It is here I quenched my thirst for Paranthas. After shopping we just dropped into the famous Gali Parantha Wali. They are very popular for their Paranthas for ages. Paranthas here are made from freshly ground wheat flour with spicy stuffing. Paranthas are served with tantalizing curried gravies like the potato masala gravy and fresh raita. One should never miss the multi-flour Jabalpuri Parantha here.

For Parantha lovers I would like to suggest one more place in Delhi. Not Just Pranthas at Rajouri Garden is another best place in Delhi for savoring delicious Paranthas. This shop will stun you with hundreds of varieties of tasty Paranthas.

My father is my role model whom I look upto and respect for his ideals and principles. My dad has been my biggest support all through my life for always believing in me, inspiring and encouraging me infact, both my parents are my pillars of strength because of them I am what I am today. So to celebrate my success in my career I decided to take my parents on a holiday to thank them both for everything and the sacrifices they did for me. The destination was easy to choose as it was always my father’s desire to go back to Chennai in Tamil Nadu where he had spend a major chunk of his childhood.

I looked up on the internet for trains going to Chennai from Mumbai as my parents don’t like travelling by flight so I booked first class AC on the Chennai Mail 11027. With that done I started browsing the web again for hotel accommodations. I wanted to give my parents the best that money could buy and I concluded ITC Chennai as the best option with all the facilities it had on offer.

ITC Chennai

ITC Chennai

Perfect package in ITC Grand Cholafor perfect people

I wanted everything to be perfect for my holiday with my parents so that I could be able to give my parents a trip of a lifetime that they so deserved. I choose ITC Grand Cholasince it is well located and many recreational options are available not just in the hotel but also nearby to the hotel. For e.g. the Guindy National park is close by so also the Chennai snake park. The hotel itself has many recreational facilities available for all guests.

They have swimming pool, health club, and saunaalong with steam room. Spa treatments are also available which a plus point is also for me since I wanted to pamper my parents with relaxing spa massages. The hotel has beautifully furnished rooms with AC and mini bar.

It has coffee/tea maker for the guest to indulge in, bathrobes and slippers are provided for the guest. Speakerphones and television are there also. Small banquet halls free valet parking, concierge service are also some of the facilities offered by the hotel.

Foodie Family

Unquestionably all three of us are foodies hence the food has to great wherever we go. The hotel offers restaurants which will leave you spoilt for choice. They have ten dining options and two bars! The only thing you have to figure out is which culinary experience you want to savor for the day because the cuisines on offer are mind boggling. We decided to check out two of the restaurants and believe me we had no regrets.

Royal Vega

The Royal Vega is true to its name it is a royal affair and the best vegetarian restaurant on offer. The interiors are truly grand and the menu consist of season vegetables dishes from across the royal kitchens of India.

Ottimo - Cucina Italiana

Ottimo Cusina Italiana is the second restaurant we dined in. This restaurant offers delectable Italian cuisines at its best and the USP of this restaurant is that they a have a large live kitchen!

I know this time with my parents will be full of memories.

I had always wanted to visit the capital city of the country, owing to the fact that it has so many monuments and attractive historical locations.  As a three day vacation period was coming up, I decided to fly to the city with my children to enjoy some fun time together visiting such place and learning more about our country’s culture and past.

I booked tickets to Delhi on Indigo airlines using the airline’s online booking system.

Journey on Indigo Air Was Smooth and Quick

Indigo Air is a leading low cost carrier in the country, operating from its hubs in Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore and Hyderabad.  Initiated in 2006, it has become so popular with the public that it has now become the second largest low cost carrier in all of Asia.

The airline offers vital connectivity between the most popular travel routes enabling people to journey as and when required, but without incurring heavy expenses. Its Chennai to Delhi flights offer easy connectivity between the two key metro cities and assists travelers to journey   at reduced rates.

The journey from Chennai to Delhi lasted three hours, during which time we enjoyed meals and refreshments. Once the flight landed in the Delhi airport we reached the hotel accommodation via cab.

I Stayed In a Lavish Three Star Hotel
My place of stay was the beautiful Hotel Hari Piorko which is a lovely three star hotel situated in Pahar Ganj. The hotel’s interiors are cozy, warm and wonderful, providing latest guest facilities and amenities that make way for an enjoyable staying experience.

My room was elegantly furnished and inclusive of everything that a guest would need such as plush bedding, LCD television, wi-fi, stylish baths etc.  There are two places to dine which is the dining hall and the other is the Alfresco restaurant. In both places you can enjoy delicious North Indian and Continental cuisine.
The hotel offers guests a wellness center where they can enjoy massages. There is also a garden in the roof top where guests can enjoy the sun and spend time in the evenings. Other facilities are travel desk, room service and housekeeping.

Sightseeing Different Monuments in Delhi
We took a cab to visit the majestic Red Fort, which was built in 1638.  The fort stood the test of time and today’s it stands as a majestic structure showcasing evidence of Mughal rule in India in its entire splendor.

At one point till 1857, it was used as the residence of the Moghul rulers. Inside the massive exterior wall is a series of building, which were used for various purposes ranging from household to halls for receiving the public, entertainment areas etc. Today the fort is a UNESCO designated world heritage site.

Qutub Minar is the tallest minaret made form brick in the world. I saw the structure in its entire grandness and was completely stunned by it. It is a UNESCO designated world heritage site and made from sand stone and marble. Standing at 73 meters in height, it is a towering monument with a circular staircase that leads to its top.

Our next stop over was the Lotus Temple, which is a structure that is open to all regardless of their religion. It is the most visited place in Delhi and one that stuns you with its facade which is shaped like lotus petals. Considered as an architectural marvel, it can accommodate about 2500 people inside.

We also stopped over at India Gate and the famous Lodi Gardens. After visiting the historical locations, we came back to the hotel to pack for the return journey.
